For The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO)

Inner Katy BRT Urban Design

UltraBarrio developed urban, active, and architectural opportunities for four stops on the METRO Rapid Inner Katy BRT projects (Memorial, Shepherd Durham, Studemont, and Bagby).

The goal was to transform place and establish appropriate programming compatibility with characteristics, demands, scale of adjacent context, vehicular flows, and natural systems.

This project envisions the METRO Rapid Inner Katy BRT at the intersection of urbanism, bus, car, and pedestrian logistics that is integrative of the Arts in Transit Program and the opportunity to create an ecosystem of robust programmed, active, comfortable, and safe ridership.

The architectural opportunities were further developed as a modular approach. Which received the 2024 The Architect’s Newspaper Best of Design Award.
